The mother of a Greensburg man who died while serving a jail sentence may seek a wrongful death lawsuit against county officials.
According to the Greensburg Daily News, court documents reveal Lynn Brewsaugh is pursuing a lawsuit citing her son’s death was caused by “was caused by the willful, wanton and/or negligent actions of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department and its officers and agents.”
The lawsuit has not yet been filed, according to the newspaper.
38-year-old Michael Satterfield was found unresponsive at the Decatur County Jail and transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on March 17.
Satterfield was serving a two week sentence for an OWI conviction.
Results of a preliminary autopsy show that Satterfield died of natural causes, but a final ruling has not been made pending the toxicology report.
