OSGOOD, IN — The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce held its 2021 Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony Thursday night.
Retired Indiana State Police Trooper Phil Mohr was honored as the Citizen of the Year.
Mohr reflected on his 34 years with ISP and called the award “humbling. “
“It also told me that what you do matters,” Mohr said. “And people were watching. What you do matters.”
South Ripley Junior High School Guidance Counselor Ashlee Miller was honored as the Educator of the Year.
She believes other local educators also deserve recognition.
“I can think of handfuls of people who have inspired me and challenged me, and I’ve worked alongside and collaborated with who definitely deserve this award,” Miller said.
Local realtor Steve Woolum was named Business Person of the Year.
Woolum said there are things that make owning and operating a business enjoyable.
“Maybe the flexibility and the options of being able to create the path you want to go in, so it’s been a good industry for us,” said Woolum.
Outgoing Chamber board members Mary Ann McCoy and Barry Lauber were also recognized for their years of service.
The event took place at St. Florian Reception Center and Gardens in Osgood.
