Milan’s boys swim team participated in the East Central sectional this past weekend with 13 other schools.
When comparing the event times with other sectionals throughout the state, the East Central sectional proved to be one of the toughest.
Bloomington South, ranked #3 in the state, won the sectional championship with crosstown rival, Bloomington North, #15 finishing second.
Milan’s Indians finished in 9th out of the 14.
Milan highlights included numerous personal best times in the prelim round and in the finals on Saturday.
The Indian 200 Medley Relay finished 9th with a time of 1:54.16. Relay members were Lucas Cooney, Seth Thomas, JJ Mutz and Tyler Myers.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Tyler Myers, Logan Bruns, Hunter Wickizer and Dylan Pindell finished 13th.
Individual highlights from Saturday included:
Freshman Seth Thomas finished 10th in the 200 IM.
Sophomore JJ Mutz was 15th in the 100 Butterfly.
The 100 Breaststroke event saw Milan’s best results with Seth Thomas finishing 5th overall in the championship finals heat. JJ Mutz also competed and finished 11th.
Lastly, the 400 Free Relay team swam a great finals and finished 7th. Relay members included Lucas Cooney, Dylan Pindell, JJ Mutz and Seth Thomas.
