Michael “Whitey” Roy Bauman of Jonesboro, GA passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born in Batesville, IN on February 22, 1957 to Nelson and Dorothy (nee Dieckmann) Bauman.
As a boy, Mike was an active Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle. He also excelled at basketball, playing on the Batesville High School team for four years. After high school, he attended Hanover College where he played on the basketball team for three years and the tennis team for one year. After graduating from Hanover, he began working for Batesville Casket Company as Customer Service Center Manager in Denver, CO. After five years in Denver, he transferred to the Atlanta Service Center, staying there until his retirement.
Mike was a passionate audiophile, having an extensive collection of CD’s. Some of his favorite artists were Bruce Cockburn, Pat Metheny, Van Morrison and many more. He was also a dedicated walker, averaging three to five miles a day. While not an avid fisherman, he did enjoy going after a mess of farm pond bluegill, or a canoe float on the Whitewater River, whenever he was in Batesville.
Mike will be lovingly missed by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Billie/B.J. Bauman; former wife and life partner Michelle Bauman and her son, Marc Doan; nieces: Amanda (Scott) Lyttle and Emily (Ed) Bohman.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held following visitation at 11:00 am with Reverend Joseph Feldmann officiating all at Meyers Funeral Home.
