(Greensburg, IN) – Greensburg Meals On Wheels looked back at last year as well as to the future during the organization’s volunteer appreciation luncheon Wednesday afternoon.

“We always have our ups and downs,. This year, we lost all of our funding so that’s been a ‘down,’ but the upside is the community and my drivers and volunteers and just everybody has shown so much support and kindness,” said Executive Director Diana Robbins. “Our fundraisers have really hit it out of the park. It takes a village and the village has stepped up and Meals On Wheels is doing really great right now.”

Robbins says the feeling of community surrounding the organization means everything to her.

“It just becomes so much more than a client-deliverer relationship. It truly becomes a family and, with the community support, it’s kind of like one big happy family,” she added.

Robbins and the organization received a pleasant surprise in the form of a $1,000 donation from the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce (pictured).

The event was held at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg.
