Mary Striecker, 98, of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg. She was born April 8, 1923 in Greensburg, Indiana the daughter of Edward and Edna (Phillips) Walterman, both deceased. She married Paul Striecker on April 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2005.
Mary was a farmer’s wife. She had also worked and trained at Mascatatuck State Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Mary played the Banjo and along with her husband, they loved to play country music. They travel to and played in a band called “Hoosier Snowbirds” in Florida. They also played in the senior citizens band in Greensburg. Mary loved to play cards, bake, and cook. She sewed dresses for her daughters out of feed sacks when they were young.
She is survived by one son, Thomas (Mary) Striecker; four daughters, Paulene Feldman-Hurt, Greensburg, Betty Burkhart, Columbus, Marlene (Albert) Daeger, North Vernon, Sue (Mike) Wilds, Westfield; one brother, Lowell Walterman, Greensburg; 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; siblings, Mabel Ailes, Muriel Laudick, Opal Moeller, Harold Walterman, Russell Walterman; sons-in-law, Al Feldman, Don Hurt, Bob Burkhart; 3 great great grandchildren, Dee Riley Wehner, Amarai Asher Wehner, Zion Amariah Wehner.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Our Hospice, or the Bread of Life.
