Mary Jane Jansing, age 77, earned her angel wings on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Mary Jane was born on June 29, 1943, the daughter of the late Elmer and Clara (Zins) Galle on the family farm just outside of St Mary’s of the Rock, Indiana. She grew up along with her brothers and sisters and attended St Mary’s School. In grade school she would meet Mark Jansing, and little did they know, they would be joined for the rest of their lives.
They were united in marriage on September 30, 1967, and moved outside of Osgood. Mark and Mary Jane recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Early on, Mary Jane worked at Hillenbrand’s while Mark ran a service station. Then, as they started a family, she returned home to raise the kids. As the kids grew older, she returned to work at Jac-Cen-Del Schools as an elementary school cook and retired there after 21 years.
Mary Jane was strong in her faith and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Her 3 grandkids were the “apple of her eye” and she enjoyed attending all of their events. She was a proud member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the St. John’s Ladies’ Society.
She is survived by husband,Mark; daughter, Jill; son, Jeff (Christie); grandkids: Grant, Ella, and Ty. Surviving brothers and sisters include Gene (Rosemary); Vernon, Margie Rauch, and Shirley (Don) Robbins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lowell; and sisters, Angie Prickel; and Evelyn Metz.
