Mary Frances Redelman, 81, peacefully passed away on August 14, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 21, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of Alvin and Mary Louise Smith.
Mary Frances was a woman of great faith, strength, compassion, and grace. She faced life’s challenges with unwavering courage and a heart full of love. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
On October 19, 1960, Mary Frances embarked on a lifelong journey of love and partnership when she married the late Carl L. Redelman. Their bond was one of enduring devotion, and their love story served as an inspiration to all who witnessed it.
Mary Frances was a dedicated homemaker who lovingly cared for her family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she showered them with her boundless love and affection. She cherished every moment spent with her family, creating treasured memories that will forever live on in their hearts.
She is survived by her devoted son, Theodore (Linda) Redelman, and four loving daughters: Veronica (Kevin) Menchhofer, Mary (William) Herbert, Rebecca (Bill) Dieckmann, and Shirley (Steven) Zapfe. Mary Frances’s warmth extended to her siblings. Those surviving are brother, Lawrence A. Smith (Becky), sisters, Virginia A. Striecker, Bonnie J. Rody (Mark). Mary Frances was preceded in death by one sister Alvina M. Ogle. She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl L. Redelman, who passed away on December 1, 2013. Their reunion in heaven surely brings comfort to those who loved them. Shortly before Carl’s passing he had gotten a collie puppy named Toby, who became friends with their beagle Copper. Even though Toby was meant to be Carl’s dog it was quickly realized that Toby was for Mary Frances. Toby and Copper became great joy for Mary Frances by providing her company and support until the day she passed.
A visitation to celebrate Mary Frances’s life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Charles Hill, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, also at the funeral home.
Mary Frances will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Millhousen, Indiana, a place where their love and legacy will continue to shine.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association in Mary Frances’s honor.
