Mary Dianne Holzbacher, of Sunman, was born on July 3, 1945, a daughter to Verl and Helen Birchard Emsweller. After graduating high school, she attended cosmetology school. She married Robert D. Holzbacher on April 17, 1971, and together they raised two daughters. Dianne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church – Hubbell’s Corner. She enjoyed doing hair, gardening, cooking and baking, babysitting, spending time with her grandchildren, and travelling. She especially enjoyed her yearly trip to Nashville to the Grand Ole Opry. On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the age of 79, Dianne passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Those surviving who will cherish her memory include her daughters, Amy (David) Lunsford and Maryann (Anthony) Roy; 6 grandchildren, Chris Holzbacher, Joey Reeves, Justin Lunsford, Adam Lunsford, Tyler Lunsford, and Alex Lunsford; one step grandson, Zachery Roy; 3 great-grandchildren, Maverick Holzbacher, Beckham Holzbacher, Norah Holzbacher, as well as one on the way. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; 5 siblings, Ruth Miller, Velma McClain, Everett Emsweller, Evelyn Rosemeyer, and Ken Emsweller.
Friends and family may gather and remember Dianne on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church – Hubbell’s Corner, 12523 N Dearborn Rd, Sunman, IN 47041. Service will begin at 11a.m. and burial will follow immediately after in the Evangelical Union Cemetery.
