Martha Rose Fehl was ushered into the presence of her Savior, Jesus, on December 15, 2020, after faithfully living 88 years on this earth. She was born June 17, 1932 in Harrison, Ohio to the late Vernon Souders and Josephine Friday Souders. A life-long Franklin County resident and member of the Brookville Church of Christ, Martha grew up on a 200 acre dairy farm that gave way to the Brookville Reservoir.
Martha loved to read her Bible and was an avid learner and writer, publishing her first full-length children’s book, Puppy Love, in 2019. Her knowledge and way with words often showed in her clever, quick-witted conversation, accompanied by a twinkle in her eyes. Her education included a B.A. in Religious Education and Literature from Cincinnati Bible College, and both a B.A. and M.A. in K-12 Education from the University of Cincinnati. Martha had vast education experience encompassing 15 years in elementary education and 12 years as a substitute for K-12. She taught in summer schools, youth camps, daily Vacation Bible Schools, and served as a Cub Scout leader. Martha was a field editor for Taste of Home Magazine and wrote material in humor, self-help, nature, nonfiction, and poetry in 200+ magazines and newspapers. Martha marveled at the wonder and beauty of God’s design in nature and this was often the subject of her writings.
She is survived by her children Julie Bontier, Chris (Shirley) Fehl, Craig (Rhonda) Fehl, Matthew (Beth) Fehl, a sister Nancy (John) Johnson, as well as her sister-in-law, Jeannie Souders, her brother-in-law Jim (Donna) Fehl, and her sister-in-law Ellie (Bob) Keeney. Martha also had 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Fehl, her sister Virginia Denton, and her brother Vernon Souders, Jr.

Pastor Perry Booso of the Brookville Church of Christ, will officiate the Funeral Services at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
