Mark William Bockstiegel

June 5, 1953 – December 14, 2024

Mark William Bockstiegel, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on December 14, 2024. Born and raised in Aurora, Mark was the eldest of two sons to William and Mary (Greive) Bockstiegel. He attended St. John Lutheran School, graduated from Aurora High School, and earned a degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati.  Mark had a long career as an architect/project manager at construction companies in Lawrenceburg and Cincinnati.

While serving as attendants at the wedding of mutual friends shortly after college, Mark met Julie Bock. This chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love, and they were married for 45 wonderful years. The couple lived in Cincinnati for a few years before returning to Aurora to raise their daughter, Anne.

Mark was a man who cherished life’s simple joys. His faith and family were the cornerstones of his life. A devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church, Mark was baptized on July 5, 1953 and confirmed on March 19, 1967.  He served as an elder for many years, embodying his commitment to his community and faith. He found great happiness at “The Farm,” a place where countless memories were made with loved ones. In 2016, Mark embraced one of his most treasured roles: Grandpa. He was adored by his three grandchildren—Mary Kate, George, and Margot—and brought joy to every moment spent with them.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his daughter Anne (Matthew) Krembel; and his cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Jim (Chris) Bockstiegel and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is Wednesday, December 18 from 5-7 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street in Aurora.  Burial service is Thursday, December 19 at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 220 Mechanic Street, followed by interment at River View Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.

Mark’s unwavering devotion to faith and family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May the memories he created bring comfort to those who loved him.
