Marjorie A. “Margie” Fischer, age 87 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born March 2, 1937, in Franklin County Indiana, she is the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Nee: Rahe) Barnhorst. She married Joe Fischer on November 28, 1957, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2017.
Margie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Ladies Society and worked for many years in housekeeping at Hillenbrand Industries in Batesville, before retiring.
She is survived by her brothers Clifford (Wilma) Barnhorst of Batesville and Ronald Barnhorst of Oldenburg; sisters Dolores Scheele of Batesville, Lorraine (Larry) Fullenkamp of Oldenburg, and Rita (Jim) Glaub of Batesville; brother-in-law Irvin Kunkel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Joe, she was preceded in death by her sister Esther Kunkel.
Visitation is Wednesday, October 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m., at the church, with Fr. John Barker O.F.M. officiating. The burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oldenburg Eagle Fire Co. or to the Holy Family Church.
