Marilyn Sue Iles Kunkel, 82 years old of New Alsace, IN passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Marilyn was kind and generous with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed time to herself while doing crossword puzzles and reading, but also loved celebrating in a big way for birthdays and holidays. She delighted in watching the birds outside with a particular fondness for the cardinals that came to visit. Marilyn had a talent for sewing and tried her hand at anything and everything. She often made clothes for herself and her children, doll clothes, and Halloween costumes for her granddaughters. An extraordinary baker, Marilyn perfected her apple pie recipe to the delight of her family. As a grandma to five, one of Marilyn’s favorite things to do was spend time with her grandchildren.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children Kenny Kunkel, Jenny (Eldon) Steinmetz, and son-in-law Bobby Tallarigo; grandchildren Amanda, Kendra, & Karlie Kunkel and Emily & Anna Tallarigo; and siblings Martha Browning, Carl (Sandy) Iles. She is preceded in death by Jim, her husband of 57 years; daughter Sharon Tallarigo; siblings Dennis Iles, Ronnie Iles, Phillis Garber, Billy Iles; and parents Nellie & William Iles.
Services for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, June 20 at St. Paul’s Campus of All Saints Parish. Rosary will begin at 8:45am, followed by visitation at 9:00am until the time of mass at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. For those unable to attend, Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/aspweeklyhomily.
