Marie Janice Pruss, 83, of Farmers Retreat (Dillsboro) passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg. Marie was born Sunday, March 7, 1937 in Strasburg, Illinois, the daughter of the late Myrtle G. (Ulmer) and Martin G. Ulmer. She married Glenroie Pruss on May 31, 1958 in St. John Lutheran Church at Farmers Retreat and he survives. Marie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Farmers Retreat. She graduated from River Forest Concordia Teachers College in Chicago, Illinois and was a teacher at St. John’s school (Farmers Retreat) from 1956-1958. She worked at Dearborn County Hospital in the central supply and dietary departments; and was a volunteer EMT for the Dillsboro life squad. She enjoyed trying to keep her husband straight; watching hummingbirds; liked to go on cruises, she and her husband took a cruise to Hawaii for their 25th and 60th anniversaries. She also liked cryptograms and jumbo puzzles in the newspapers.
Marie is survived by her husband Glenroie of Farmers Retreat (Dillsboro), Indiana; her children Glenda Jean Bryant (Larry) of Fairfield, Ohio, Ronald Martin Pruss (Janice) of Milan, Indiana, and Angela Jill Crouse (Ronald) of Cleves, Ohio; grandchildren James Bryant (Brittney), Rachel Pruss, Michael Pruss, Bradley Traylor, Brandy Crouse, and Braden Crouse; great-grandchildren Hunter Traylor and Miles Bryant, and dog Toby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Martin, and sisters Olive Ulmer and Vera Buesking.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember her 10 AM – 12 noon, Friday, October 9, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat. A service celebrating her life will be held 12 Noon on Friday also at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat with Rev. Richard Kolaskey officiating. Memorials may be given in honor of Marie to St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
