Marcia Standley Batterton, 94, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Aspen Place Health Campus.
She was born to George O. Standley and Charlotte (Lee) Westhafer Standley on April 12, 1923 in Perry County, Indiana.
She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1941 and from Miami University of Oxford in 1945. She belonged to Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. After graduation she worked as a book keeper for McCoy and Douglas. She was a homemaker until her youngest son was in junior high school. She then worked for the Greensburg Daily News and retired from the Decatur County Welfare Department. Marcia was a member of the Kingston Presbyterian Church, PEO, and Tri Kappa.
She was married to John H. Batterton on December 22, 1946 in Greensburg.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas D. Batterton of Philadelphia, sons, James Betterton, Davies Batterton (Patricia Cooper), and Thomas L. Batterton (Katha), grandsons, Ryan Batterton, Daniel Batterton (Mia), and John D. Batterton, step grandchildren, Andrew Oaldon, Chris Oaldon (Kirsten), Nona King, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, George L. Standley and Alden Westhafer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg and Wednesday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at the Kingston Presbyterian Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Kingston Presbyterian Church with Rev. Shannon Burford and Rev. Margaret Lowe officiating.
Interment will be held in the Kingston Cemetery.
