Batesville, IN—On Wednesday, August 7, Batesville Police Officers and Batesville Fire and EMS responded to North Huntersville Road for a single-vehicle motorcycle accident.
The initial investigation by Corporal Ryan Metcalf revealed Samuel T. Eckstein, age 43, of Batesville, was traveling northbound on Huntersville Road operating a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Eckstein’s motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway as he was making a left turn, slid through the grass, and then collided with a large utility pole. Eckstein was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the collision and was not wearing a helmet.
Eckstein was subsequently treated by Batesville EMS and flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for further treatment. His injuries were determined to be serious, but non-life threatening.
