Man Arrested for Battery on Deputy Resulting in Injury

(Franklin County, IN) – A man was arrested in Franklin County Tuesday evening following an incident with a deputy that landed both men in the hospital.

18-year-old Gregory Hacker III is charged with felony Battery on Law Enforcement Resulting in Injury and a misdemeanor count of Resisting Law Enforcement.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Sgt. Kyle Hartman was called to the 4,000 block of Kerr Road in the southeastern part of the county after residents reported a suspicious man driving a pickup truck, which had backed into a retaining wall.

Sgt. Hartman said Hacker appeared intoxicated, and he was injured while trying to take the Hamilton, Ohio man into custody.

Hartman and Hacker were transported to Margaret Mary Health, where they were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Hacker is locked up in the Franklin County Security Center.
