Greensburg, IN— Main Street Greensburg is pleased to announce that this year’s Farmers Market will be happening! However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are instituting a few changes to keep both our vendors and customers safe.
The Market will be moved to the Decatur County Fairgrounds, and it will begin on Friday, June 5. It will be a drive-thru only event. While this was a difficult decision, the Decatur County Commissioners support the effort because they say it, “[complies] with state and local guidelines related to social distance,” and it, “still [provides] opportunity for vendors and their customers access to locally grown fruit and vegetables that are considered essential products during this pandemic.”
This is only a temporary move, and MSG hopes to be back Downtown soon when the state and local officials feel that it is safe to proceed as normal. More than anyone, MSG understands the potential economic and social impacts this could have on our Downtown District, as well as to the Farmers Market vendors and customers. Mayor Josh Marsh adds, “Supporting the local economy continues to be an important part of our recovery, and I hope you will visit the drive-thru Farmers Market at the Decatur County Fairgrounds this spring.”
In the coming weeks, MSG will be working hard to navigate the logistics of the new location and will provide information as it is made available. In the meantime, it encourages you to contact your favorite vendor to place a pre-order to help expedite the drive-thru process. Mark your calendars for the grand opening of our market on Friday, June 5th, 2 pm-6 pm.
