Linda Kay Downey, 72, of Versailles passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at her home. She was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on May 5, 1946 the daughter of Floyd and Virginia Shinkle Downey. Survivors include one daughter Donnelle (Matthew) Griffin of Indianapolis; one grandson David Griffin of St. Paul; four brothers Larry Downey, Ronnie (Nancy) Downey, and Terry Downey all of Holton, and Allen (Christine) Downey of Versailles; two sisters Joyce (Bob) Peters of Brownstown, and Phyllis Swinney of Holton. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Downey was a 1966 graduate of Holton High School. She was a former employee of Lane Bryant in Indianapolis and retired from the Hampton Inn in Batesville in 2015 where she worked in housekeeping. Linda’s number one love in life was her daughter, spending time with her family and friends. She knew every song the Beatles ever sung and also loved tending to her flowers. Linda also enjoyed doing genealogy on the Downey and Shinkle families. She attended the Hopewell Baptist Church. Funeral services for Linda will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, February 27th at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Harrell of the Zenas Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will also be at Hopewell beginning at 12pm. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versaille
