Lester Paul Seevers

Lester Paul Seevers, of Sunman, was born on June 8, 1928 in Guilford, the son of Henry and Margaret Rodmaker Seevers.  On July 28, 1956 he married Elvera Lipps at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Hubbell’s Corner.  Lester proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a cadre in a 90mm training battery.  At the age of 59, he retired from Seagram’s after 40 years of employment.  Lester loved being outdoors; especially in the woods on his tractor and gardening.  He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church and he and his wife enjoyed traveling to visit with family.  On Friday, February 10, 2017 at the age of 88, Lester passed away peacefully at home. 

 

Those surviving who will cherish Lester’s memory include his wife and best friend of over 60 years, Elvera Seevers; daughter, Barbara (Jeffrey) Meyer of Leesburg, VA; grandsons, Nicholas Meyer of Arlington, VA; Kyle (Ashleigh) Meyer of Dallas, TX, and Adam Meyer of Arlington, TX.  He is also survived by three sisters, Betty Webb of Lawrenceburg, Marcella Brandt of Lawrenceburg, and Rosemary Schuck of Guilford as well as several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Alan Seevers and Thomas Paul Seevers. 

 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lester’s life on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 9:30 until time of service at 12 noon.  The celebration and services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Hubbell’s Corner and burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sunman American Legion Post #337.   

 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Fellowship Hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Evangelical Union Cemetery Association.  The staff of Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Lester Seevers.
