LeRoy Evans Gardner

LeRoy Evans Gardner, age 81 of Sunman, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home. Born November 22, 1944, in Paisley, Scotland, he is the son of Owen and Rhoda (Nee: Boyle) Gardner. He married Lorraine Allen on December 30, 1972, at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

LeRoy served honorably in the United States Navy for more than seven years, including service during the Vietnam War as a Hospital Corpsman assigned to the USS Okinawa LPH-3. After his military service, LeRoy worked in construction and other trades before he and his wife purchased a farm, which he later developed into a nursery and tree farm, primarily growing pine species.

LeRoy was happiest when he had a project. He enjoyed working in his garden, maintaining and repairing equipment, carpentry, and anything that allowed him to stay busy and work with his hands. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Gardner of Sunman; his son, Jason (Mindi) Gardner of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; his daughter, Jessica Ross of Harrison, Ohio; his sisters, Carroll (David) Hall and Lindsay Harr, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Lydia and Abel Gardner, and Nate and Reagan Ross

In accordance with LeRoy’s wishes, cremation was chosen and no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.weigelfh.com.
