(Statehouse) – State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) will serve as vice-chair of the State Fair Advisory Committee and as a member of several other study committees in preparation for the 2024 legislative session.
Leising’s other assignments include:
- Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications;
- Land Use Task Force; and
- Medicaid Advisory Committee.
“During the 2023 legislative session, I authored Senate Enrolled Act 9 to ensure the state can support growing energy demand until we have better battery storage,” Leising said. “By hearing from energy experts in the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications, we can continue planning for Indiana’s future and considering policies to address energy concerns in the next legislative session.”
Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
“Indiana agriculture contributes an estimated $35.1 billion to our economy, spurring continuous economic development for our state and rural communities,” Leising said. “This is why I am looking forward to meeting with stakeholders on the State Fair Advisory Committee and Land Use Task Force to successfully ensure we continue to celebrate the agriculture sector’s rich history at the Indiana State Fair and spur more economic development across the state.”
