Leising notes bipartisan cooperation during 2022 legislative session

State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg)

SOUTHEASTERN IN — State Senator Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) is reflecting on the 2022 Indiana General Assembly session, which was gaveled to its conclusion last week.

“The total number of bills passed by the legislature this year was only 21 percent of the introduced bills, for a total of 177,” Leising said. “Ninety-five of those were Senate bills and 82 were House bills.”

Leising added one thing that jumps out at her is the fact that 92 percent of the bills that passed had support from both sides of the aisle.

“I think this is a significant thing because, truthfully, I don’t think that happens in Washington, D.C.,” she said. “But in Indianapolis, we still do try to work together. Sometimes it doesn’t go as well as we hope but the fact that 92 percent of the bills that passed had bipartisan support is a pretty big deal.”

Leising was a guest on Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Pod on WRBI.
