LaVera Thelma (Kiennger) Barlow, 97, of Dillsboro passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. LaVera was born Thursday, July 31, 1924 in Pocahantos, Missouri; daughter of Martin and Martha (Bellman) Kiennger. LaVera married Elmer Barlow on February 26, 1949 and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2013. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. LaVera worked in the packaging department for Schenleys. She babysat for lots of children, was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning, and loved to quilt, but her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family.
LaVera will be missed by her sons Dr. Larry Barlow (Phyllis) of Milan and Dennis Barlow (Amy) of Farmers Retreat; grandchildren Ashley Rohls (Eric), Zachary Barlow, Kelly Barlow, Amanda Roark (Norman), and Samantha Barlow; and great-grandchildren Madison Rohls, Landon Rohls, Eleanor Roark, Shawn Roark, and Dennis Roark.
LaVera was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Martha, four brothers and four sisters, which included her twin.
Family and friends may gather in remembering LaVera from 5 – 7 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. A Service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9901 Central Avenue, Dillsboro, IN 47018, with Rev. Richard Kolaskey officiating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of LaVera to Ripley Crossing Activity Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church improvement fund.
