Laurence Edwin Huntington, 95 passed away at his home in Dearborn on November 21, 2016. He was born in Milan, Indiana on September 7, 1921 to Homer and Emma Huntington. He was the youngest of five children. He attended Indiana University, and in December of 1941 he enlisted in the Navy. He became a radio operator before attending Officer Candidate School and was assigned to prepare for tank invasion into Japan aboard a landing craft for tanks. On May 24, 1942 he married Mary Ann Stewart in Moores Hill, Indiana. Following his Navy career, he graduated from law school at Indiana University and was employed by the Ford Motor Company. He is survived by his sons: Laurence Jr. (Peggy) and Donald, grandsons: Robert (Heidi) and William (Ruth) and great grandsons: Aaron (Kayleigh) and Alexander. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann, son David, brothers: William and John and sisters: Helen and Frances. He was active in the United Methodist Church of Lincoln Park, the Down River United Methodist Church and the Saw Players Association. He enjoyed being with family, hymn singing, all types of music, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and old TV series
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 6, 2017 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill, Indiana, with Rev. Ted Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow after service. Full military rites with be provided by Moores Hill American Legion Post # 209. Memorials may be made in his name to the Down River United Methodist Church.
