A 5-run surge in the 6th inning by Jac-Cen-Del varsity baseball was enough for the Eagles to earn a 12-9 comeback win over North Decatur on Monday.
The big inning for Jac-Cen-Del came thanks to a lineout by Carson Hughes, singles by Gavin Groth and Keagan Williamson, and a fielder’s choice by Austin Bowling.
Both teams finished with 10 hits in the game. Nolan Burkhart, Xander Jones, and Ty Litmer each managed multiple hits for the Chargers. Burkhart led the team in hits going 3-for-4 at the plate.
The Eagles also tallied ten hits with Williamson, Devin Grieshop, Borgman, and Dwenger racking up multiple hits.
Clark Dwenger took the win on the mound for Jac-Cen-Del. Dwenger allowed three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four. Brady Borgman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Xander Jones took the loss for North Decatur. The righthander went one-and-one-third innings, allowing seven runs on five hits.
