Area unemployment falls sharply in April

(Southeastern IN) – All four area counties experienced sharp drops in unemployment in April.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says Decatur County again had the lowest jobless rate locally at 2.2%, which was down from 3% the month before.

Franklin County came in at 2.4%, down dramatically from 3.5% in March.

Ripley and Dearborn counties were both at 2.7% last month.

Ripley dipped from 3.8% in March, while Dearborn fell from 3.5%.

All four counties were below the state’s April average of 3%.
