Larry Elder, 81, of Dillsboro passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Larry was born Tuesday, August 17, 1937 in Ohio County, the son of William and Maude (Holbert) Elder. He married ViVian Thayer October 17, 1958 and she survives. Larry was the owner/operator of Elder service and garage for 60 years and was an auto mechanic. He worked at I & M, was a Dillsboro firefighter for 18 years and a member of the Civic Club. He liked to fly his own planes, enjoyed playing horseshoes, skiing, roller skating and riding motorcycles. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by wife ViVian; sons: Keith (Renee) Elder of Rising Sun, Kevin (Denise) Elder of Dillsboro and Kendal (Jeremy) Elder of Indian Springs, CA; daughter Kelly (Steve) Kelly of Aurora; brothers Vernon and William Elder Jr.; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
