Franklin County was able to come out on top in a tightly contested EIAC contest with Rushville by a final score of 4-1. The Wildcats were able to earn the win with great pitching throughout the game by Michaela Ferman, and exploding for 10 hits in the game.
The Wildcats were hitting the ball hard throughout the game, but couldn’t string enough hits together until the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored four runs. To begin the inning, Makaylee Woods tripled in the right-center gap to give the Wildcats a runner at third with no outs. Camryn Brewer would then hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Woods and give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats would then get three straight hits from Kloe Bolos (Double), Karlie Hahn (Single), and Michaela Ferman (Single) to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with runners at first and second. Following a strike out and a wild pitch, Franklin County had runners at second and third with two outs. Laura Hildebrand would then smash a single on a line drive to center in her first game back from injury to give the Wildcats a 4-0 lead.
That would be plenty of run support for Ferman who was dominate throughout the contest. Ferman would earn her 4th win of the season, going all seven innings for the Wildcats, allowing 1 run, 2 hits, 4 walks, and 16 strikeouts.
