Kamryn McCool shut down Milan, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Franklin County Wildcats Varsity to a 2-0 victory on Thursday evening. With the win, Franklin County ends their two game losing streak, improving to 7-2 on the season.
The pitching was strong on both sides as McCool struck out 12, while E. Widener sat down four for the Indians.
The Wildcats got the offense going in the first inning, when Gabby Mitchum doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Hannah Hornsby and Kamryn McCool. These proved to be the only runs of the game for either team.
Kamryn McCool earned the win for the Wildcats in the circle. She surrendered zero runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out 12.
Widener took the loss for Milan. She pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.
Franklin County scattered seven hits in the game. Gabby Mitchum and Kendall McCool each collected two hits to lead the Wildcats. Franklin County’s defense also improved as it didn’t commit a single error in the field.
Burns went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Milan in hits.
Franklin County will be back in action on Saturday morning as they travel to Harrsion, Ohio for a meeting with the “other” Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM.
Franklin County Wildcats JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-2 loss to Milan on Thursday. With the loss, the Wildcats record falls to 2-4 on the year.
The Franklin County Wildcats JV struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Milan, giving up 20 runs.
Milan scored nine runs in the fourth inning. Milan’s big inning was driven by singles by Tuttle, Brown, G Davis, N Tuttle, and Tuttle, an error on a ball put in play by H Smith, and a double by M Thompson.
Brown pitched Milan to victory. She allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out three.
Karlie Hahn took the loss for Franklin County Wildcats JV. She lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and three runs.
Laura Hildebrand, Emily Wendel, Sarah Bare, and Paige Hall all had one hit to lead Franklin County Wildcats JV.
Milan racked up 12 hits in the game. Tuttle, Tuttle, and Smith each collected multiple hits for Milan.
The Franklin County Junior Varsity will be back in action on Saturday morning as they travel to Harrison, Ohio to face the Wildcats. They will start immediately following the Varsity game which starts at 11 AM.
