The Lady Pirates Track & Field Team traveled to St. Leon for the East Central Invitational Friday night. The Girls team (105 points) placed 3rd in the six-team event behind Champions East Central (148) & Runner Up team Batesville (132).
The evening was filled with many highlights including 4 Individual Championships, 4 Individual Runner Up Championships, 8 individual personals records, 1 season best relay time and a new school record.
Shelby Pake set a new school record in the 1600 when she shed 6 seconds from her previous record and won the event in photo finish fashion. Ashlynn Meyer also had great finishes & won both hurdle events. Meyer is not only the 4th fastest 100 hurdler in school history but also the 8th fastest 300 hurdler. Thrower Lily Grimes continued to succeed in throws winning Shot Put & was the Runner Up Champion in Discus. Her teammate Erin Browning threw a career best to capture the Runner Up spot in shot put. Cameron Jones also had a big night as the Runner Up in the 800 with a new PR (just 0.11 seconds from the school record). Her performances in both the 1600 & 800, solidified Jones as the 2nd fastest mid-distance female in school history. Jones also left her mark with teammates Pake, Morgan Winkler, and Cathy Newhart as the 4th fastest 4×800 team in Greensburg history.
