The Greensburg Lady Pirates traveled to Liberty Saturday morning and lost 6-0 to host Lady Patriots from Union County.
A backdoor run from a solid crossing shot started the scorning 3 minutes into the contest. The Lady Patriots added goals at the 27, 26, and 22 minute marks to take a 4-0 halftime lead.
A lose ball clean up goal was scored 10 minutes into the second half while the final goal came off a penalty kick with 17 minutes to play. Keeper Emily Lowe made 21 saves on the day while Sierra Huffman and Emily Rosales recorded the only shots on goal for the Lady Pirates.
Passing and movement were improved for the squad and the defense forced 6 offside trap calls.
The squad will be in action Thursday when they host Class 2A #5 Batesville with a 5 PM kickoff.

On Saturday, Greensburg traveled to Union County to take on the Patriots and lost 9-1.
The Pirates allowed 2 goals early to the Patriots before Vincent Pavy scored the Pirates’ first goal of the season to close it to 2-1. A couple more mental lapses from the Pirate defense allowed for Union County to push it to 4-1 at halftime.
The second half was much of the same for the Patriots as their great combination play and their stellar offense put 5 more away on the Pirates to make the final 9-1.
Other than some great leadership and inspired play from Vincent Pavy, Junior Goalkeeper Mason Ponsler had a great game, recording 9 saves and showing much more aggression and played more comfortably despite the loss.
The loss pushed the Pirates to 0-3 on the year.
