The Batesville Lady Bulldog Softball team lost to East Central last night by a score of 8-0.
The Bulldogs put 11 balls in play, but mustered only 1 hit off of freshman Megan Kincer’s outstanding pitching. Her movement pitches were just too much for us to get any real solid hits last night. Wilson ended the game defensively with 5 putouts, while Burkhart finished with 4. We had a much better game fielding the ball and only committed 2 errors on 27 plays. Obermeyer finished the game with a hit and was hit by a pitch, Huffner completed a sacrifice bunt.
Next up – Rushville on Thursday away with a game time of 5:30.

It was a picture perfect night for softball Tuesday evening. Batesville and East Central JV softball locked up in a tight one as East Central scored in their last at bat to win 4-3.
East Central struck first when Nat Schnell lead off the second inning with a walk. She stole second and scored tagging up on a pop fly. Batesville responded in the next half inning as Abby Westerfeld led off the third with a single, went to second on a passed ball and came around to score off a Gwen Martin single in an 0-2 count. East Central pushed another across in the bottom half of the third when Sam Engle singled and came around to score. They added another in the fourth as Kenidi Green singled and scored tagging up on a fly ball. The Lady Bulldogs were down 3-1 heading to their last at bat. Westerfeld again started the top half of the fifth with a single. Back to back singles by Paige Oldham and Martin scored Westerfeld. Chloe Saler then knocked in Oldham on a fielder’s choice to knot the game up at 3-3. East Central then struck the final blow winning in their last at bat as Engle led off the inning with a single and scored the game winning run on a single by Emma Ertle.
The JV Lady Bulldogs were led at the plate by Martin who went 3-3 with 2 RBI’s. Westerfeld and Saler each had two a piece and Oldham added one. Westerfeld led the team with two runs scored. Westerfeld was also very solid on the mound going all five innings for the Bulldogs in the loss punching out five Lady Trojan hitters.
The JV Bulldogs will next be in action Thursday evening as they travel to Rushville. First pitch will be immediately following the varsity game.
