The Batesville JV Volleyball team pick up its first win in the EIAC and their third win in three tries this season defeating Connersville in 3 games. Scores were 25-16, 18-25, 15-13. Belle Wolters was the leading server scoring 8 points including 3 aces while making good on all 14 of her service attempts. Nikki Fox also contributed with 8 points and 3 kills in the match. Kerigan Haskamp led the front line attack with 4 kills in 13 attempts.
In the varsity match up batesville commanded leads throughout the night but could never put the spartans behind enough to close out the match. It was one of those matches as a coach where you want to be angry, but you are proud of the learning and perseverance that you just witnessed. In the end it was straight out mental fatigue that kept us from the victory. We made crucial errors when the momentum was ours; for large point swings… IF one facet of the game got us behind tonight it would have to be our discipline at the net. We were called in the net over 10 times, and only scored about six points from the block. We were lead offensively bey #16 Caitlyn Broering, with key line shots that gave us wins hitting 10 kills and the fewest errors.
Varsity is now 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the EIAC. Full box scores and stats will be posted on Maxpreps within 24 hours.
Dogs lost: 17-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12.
The ladies will play their first road game vs. Shelbyville on Saturday with a JV tip off @ 10:00 AM.
