Shelbyville, IN – The Batesville Lady Bulldogs headed up I-74 on Saturday looking to go into Shelbyville and steal a victory from the hosting Golden Bears.
Both teams battled back and forth immediately after tipoff. Neither team could build a solid lead, but Batesville claimed an 11-9 lead after the first quarter concluded.
The second quarter was more of the same as both teams continued to fight on both ends of the floor. The Golden Bears snatched the second quarter 14-13 and cut the Bulldog lead to one with both teams ready for a dogfight in the second half.
Batesville made some good adjustments in the locker room and played well in the third quarter and the lead continued to hang around that 3-4 range throughout the quarter with the Bulldogs clinging to a 38-34 lead after three.
Shelbyville showed no signs of going away as the fourth quarter was also very competitive. But, the Bulldogs didn’t give in and lead the rest of the way behind yet another double-double from Madelyn Haskamp who had 10 pts and 12 rebounds. The Bulldogs claimed victory, winning by a final score of 50-43 in a wonderful fight which showed Batesville’s ability to keep a lead.
Marlee Obermeyer led all scoring for Batesville with 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Kaylin Kathmann also contributed solid minutes, tallying 12, 2, and 2. With this win, the Bulldogs improve to 7-2 on the year and will host Lawrenceburg on Tuesday, 12/10. More stats are provided below.
