The Batesville High School girls varsity basketball team traveled to Shelbyville on Saturday and suffered a 56-39 loss.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start and could not get caught up. Shelbyville scored 22 first-quarter points and led by 16 at the first break. The offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as the deficit grew to 34-9 at halftime. The second half was much better for the Lady Bulldogs. Batesville outscored the Golden Bears 30-22 over the final 16 minutes.
After going scoreless in the first half, Makayla Granger scored 15 second-half points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Calley Kaiser was second on the team with seven points, while Catherine Raab finished with six. Bre Wells had a good game in the paint and led the team in rebounding with nine rebounds.

It was a struggle to put points on the board kind of day as the Batesville Bulldog JV girls basketball team took on the Shelbyville Bears Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs got themselves in a hole in the first quarter, unable to get the ball to fall through the net one time. As the buzzer sounded to end the first quarter they found themselves down 13-0. Although in the 2nd quarter the Dogs only scored one basket, they also held the Bears to one basket and the half-time score was 15-2. The second half was a little bit better, but they could not recover from their 13-0 deposit from the first quarter. The final score was 25-17.
Batesville was led by Claire Saner with 8 pts and 5 rebounds. Other scorers for the Bulldogs were Madelyn Pohlman with 3 points and Rhea Mille, Cora Deputy, and Emma Weiler each with 2.
The Ladies are hoping to find their shot back this week on the home court as they will host Hauser on Tuesday and JCD on Thursday.

The Batesville Lady Bulldogs suffered a 41-27 loss to Union County.
The Lady Bulldogs played right with the Lady Patriots for three quarters but were outscored 16-6 in the fourth. Batesville led 9-7 at the end of the first quarter and later trailed 19-17 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs were led in scoring by Carley Pride with nine points and Sarah Ripperger with seven. Calley Kaiser was third on the team with six points.

The Batesville Girls JV Basketball team fell to Union County last night 24-18.
The Ladies played hard, but could not find the bottom of the net as they shot 18.2% from the field. The Dogs were led by Cora Deputy with 9 points, followed by Madelyn Pohlman with 6. Madelyn also led in steals with 2. Claire Saner contributed 2 and Madison Wanstrath, 1. Rhea Miller was tough on the boards leading the Bulldogs with 8.
The Ladies will regroup today and prepare to battle with Shelbyville tomorrow.
