The Batesville Lady Bulldogs faced the East Central Lady Trojans for the first of two meetings between the teams. After 80 minutes of hard-fought soccer, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
East Central was able to get ahead 1-0 late in the first half on a perfectly timed cross and run that found its way to the back of the net. In the second half, Taylor Rowlett was able to draw a foul deep in Lady Trojan territory. Abby Brandt took the free kick and the East Central Goalkeeper was able to get a hand on it but was unable to keep it from going in.
“Julia Hunter did a great job in the first half to keep the score 1-0. She made 3 great saves on 1v1 chances. She kept us in this game in the first half and allowed us to make a comeback in the second half. Abby picked the perfect game to get her first career high school goal. As a defender, she doesn’t get many chances to score, so it was nice to get the equalizer goal against East Central in her senior year.” Batesville Coach Kyle Laker.
EC won the JV game 2-0.
Batesville and East Central will battle again on September 29th at East Central.
