Knightstown woman arrested in Decatur County for forgery

DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. — A Knightstown woman was arrested on fraud charges after police say she and another woman attempted to cash a forged check.

According to police, Nicole R Moorman, 30, of Knightstown was arrested on Thursday after an investigation that began back in November.

Police say Moorman and Pamela S Fields-Creech, 47, of Knightstown, tried to cash a check back in November that belonged to a relative of Moorman’s that was payable to Fields-Creech.

Investigators believe the check was taken from the account holder’s checkbook without his knowledge.

Police say the account holder denied giving Moorman permission to write or cash the check.

Back in November, bank employees reported the two suspects for trying to cash the check, stating that the account holder had been a victim of similar fraud in the past.

Tellers called the account holder and found out that he did not write the check to Fields-Creech.

Staff declined to cash the check and contacted police.

Moorman was arrested on charges of Attempted Fraud on a Financial Institution and Forgery.

Field-Creech is charged with check deception.
