Kenneth H. ‘Bear’ Flaspohler, age 94, of Brookville, Indiana died early Saturday morning November 29, 2025 at his residence in Brookville following a short illness.
Born November 13, 1931 in St. Mary’s, Franklin County, Indiana he was the son of the late Herman William & Marguerite (Amrhein) Flaspohler. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served as a M.P. in Berlin, Germany. On June 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Florence Monroe, and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2007.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville, 3RD Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1010 of Brookville, Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Brookville.
Kenny was retired, having worked for many years at the former D & M in Connersville. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds and I.U. Hoosier Basketball, as well as spending time with family and friends, and gardening at the family farm.
Survivors include five sons, Doug (Marlene) Flaspohler, David (Tina) Flaspohler, Terry (Melanie) Flaspohler, Darrel (Kit) Flaspohler, Dwight (special friend, Melinda) Flaspohler all of Brookville, Indiana and a daughter, Stephanie (Kenneth) LaMont of Maryland, bonus daughter, Debra (Greg) Singer of Brookville; a sister Wilma Ripperger of Brookville; nine grandchildren, Nick (Paetra) Flaspohler, Kyle (Shannon) Flaspohler, Brittany (Kevin) Pingsterhaus, Heather (Derek) Stang, Katie (Evan) Leffingwell, Elizabeth (Spencer Catron) Flaspohler, Chris (Leah Manuel) Flaspohler, Denise LaMont, Mack (Whitney) LaMont; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Florence, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Dierckman, Alberta Fecher, Mary Alice Thornsberry; three brothers, John Flaspohler, Cecil Flaspohler, Bill Flaspohler.
Family & friends may visit from 4 until 7 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.
Rev. Santhosh Yohannan, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 10:30 A.M., at St. Michael Church, 145 E St. Michael Blvd., Brookville. Burial with full Military Graveside Honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion will immediately follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Brookville.
