To say Joe was a Reds fan would be an understatement. He and his brothers were avid fans. According to his family, he liked gardening, but apparently didn’t have a green thumb. If his tomatoes produced, he was happy. Joe also enjoyed fishing, collected baseball cards, like working on his house to keep it looking good and in later years took up jigsaw and Sudoku puzzles. Good with numbers, he would quickly solve the Sudoku’s in his head before finishing them on paper. Joe was also very active in the organizations he belonged to, giving tirelessly of his time. He earned the nickname “Tootsie Roll man” for his efforts with the Knights of Columbus annual Tootsie Roll fund raising drive.
He is survived by sisters Sr. Irene Hoff O.S.F. of Oldenburg, Edith Hoff of Batesville as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by twin sisters Dorothy and Edith Hoff and brothers Eugene, Erwin and Rev. Alphonse Hoff O.F.M.
