Jonathan Alexander “Alex” Billman, 39, of Dillsboro lost his life due to a house fire in Dillsboro that occurred on Friday, November 27, 2020. Alex was born on Wednesday, June 17, 1981 in Dearborn County, Indiana to Donald Lee and Carmel (Shanks) Billman. Alex graduated from Ball State University with an associate degree in communications. He was self-employed as a concrete and construction sub-contractor. He enjoyed writing poetry and even had some of his poems published. He also liked to cook, hunt, tell stories, and camp in the mountains. Alex loved God and treasured his hope for the future.
Alex is survived by his parents, Donald and Carmel, of Cape Coral, Florida; sons Tristan Alexander Billman and Samuel Billman; daughter Phina Billman all of Ohio; significant other Rochelle Layug of Manilla, Philippines and her children Lana and Kara; paternal grandmother Dorothy Billman of Dillsboro, Indiana; brothers Chris Hampton (Charise) and Anthony Billman of Cape Coral, Florida; sisters Quianna Stearns (Mark) of Cape Coral, Florida; Lea Ann Billman of Aurora (Manchester), Indiana; seven nieces; five nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one nephew.
