John William Schlueter, 81, of Westfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025. Born on July 1, 1943, in Muskegon, Michigan, he was the son of John, Sr. and Frances Simpson Schlueter. John graduated from Muskegon High School in 1961 and began his lifelong career with General Telephone and Electric at the age of 17. He continued with the company as it evolved into Verizon, retiring in 1998 after decades of dedicated service. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, work ethic, and love for his family will forever remain in their hearts.
On August 26, 2000, John married Sherry Rose Gannon, and together they shared a life filled with love and joy. John was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy he was proud of.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Thomas) Thompson and DeAnn (Tim) Walter; grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Hackney, Renee (Christopher) Cooper, Kathryn (Macy Maxfield), and Nathan (Josie) Abraham; and great-grandchildren, Shaun Hackney, Sarah Hackney, Samantha Hackney, and Miriam Abraham. John was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sherry Schlueter; and siblings, Donna Bradfield-Cooper, Delores Beighley, Dorothy Wright, and Dennis Schlueter.
