John Cornelius Owens, age 82, passed away early Monday morning at his home in Osgood. John was born on March 9, 1936 the son of the late Glen and Ethel (Goodpaster) Owens in Vernon, In. His family would later move outside of Osgood.
He met early in life Kathryn (Groves) and they were united in marriage on April 21, 1956 and would spend the rest of their lives together. They were blessed with 5 children.
John was a dedicated employee of Delta Faucet in Greensburg for nearly 50 years. He was also a faithful member of the Osgood Christian Church. He always enjoyed buying and selling just about anything. He would enjoy going to flea markets and different sales around the area always interacting with people. When he left the house, you really had no idea what he may come home with. He rooted for Cincinnati teams to win, whether it be the Reds, Bengals, or Bearcats. He had a competitive side and liked to build race cars and go carts.
He is survived by wife Kathryn, sons; Mark (Carol) of Osgood and Mike of Tell City, daughters Mary Levi of Osgood, Amber (Adolfo) Lopez of Osgood, grandkids; Johnny, Josh, Lance, Jeremy, Kari, and Dusty, several great grandchildren, brother Joe (Susan) of Osgood, sisters Georgie (Jerry) Adkinson and Lue (Richard) Trueblood. He was preceded in death by son Rodney, grandsons; Mike and Rusty, son in law Chuck Levi, brothers; Charlie, Russ, Gene, Dennis, Rawley, and Jim, and sister Faye.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 12, 2018 from 4-7 pm. at Neal’s Funeral Home, funeral services will be held on Thursday December 13, 2018 at 11 am., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery. Memorials maybe made out to the family in care of the funeral home.
