Tonight, please join us for a special edition of Coaches’ Corner with Terrance Arney. We’ll be re-living some of the biggest high school sports moments of this school year, as it winds down. It’s the last Coaches’ Corner of ’23-’24, tonight at 6:00, exclusively here on WRBI.
It was some Sunday afternoon for the Reds, beginning with a big scare. Starting pitcher Frankie Montas was hit by a batted ball in the right forearm, just below the elbow, early in the first inning. Frankie had to leave the game, but the bullpen did well, Brent Suter throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings, to lock down the win and the series with the Angels, 3-0 at Great American. Montas was later diagnosed with a severe bruise, a contusion, to his forearm, but x-rays showed no evidence of any broken bones. A new series with the Phillies opens tonight, and you can hear all its action live, beginning with the first pitch at 6:40, right after Coaches’ Corner, only on the Sports Voice, 103.9 FM, WRBI.

The IndyCars are out there, with the month of May starting mid next week. They ran the Acura Long Beach Grand Prix in California Sunday, and Scott Dixon won it, narrowly holding off hard-charging Colton Herta at the finish line, by just under a second. It’s the 57th win of Dixon’s career, and defending IndyCar series champ Alex Palou finished 3rd.
