Jerald “Jerry” A. Brandt, age 83, of Bright, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 4, 2025. Born June 10, 1942, in Guilford, Indiana, the son of Arthur and Velma (Esther) Brandt.
Jerry, a 1960 North Dearborn High School graduate, married the late Beverly Wilson on November 10, 1962, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Jerry worked for Seagram’s in Lawrenceburg as a mechanic and a truck driver for many years, was a member of the Bright Christian Church, known for being a great baseball catcher where he was asked to play in the minor league, started the softball team at Bright Christian Church, coached youth ball and legion ball and was known as a one of a kind coach who believed in the fundamentals. Also built race engines for drag racers and late models. There were two things Jerry was known for, baseball and engines!
Jerry is survived by his daughter Joy Brandt. Grandfather of Michael Lee, Scott (Katie), Evan, and Scarlett. Great-grandfather of Bryleigh, Maezleigh, and Tyleigh. Uncle and grand-uncle to many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Velma Brandt, wife Beverly Brandt, son, Greg Brandt, an infant daughter, and great-granddaughter, Eliza.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 P.M., with Pastor Mark Fugate officiating, all at Bright Christian Church, 24457 Stateline Road, Bright, Indiana 47025. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, Indiana.
