(Jefferson County, IN) – A Madison man was arrested in Jefferson County, Texas last week on two felony charges of Stalking and misdemeanor charges of False Informing and Harassment following an investigation by detectives at the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.
Authorities say the investigation began in October 2024 when 37-year-old Abel Martinez made allegations of human trafficking against a a State Police trooper and a Madison Police officer.
He also allegedly accused a judge and other public officials of assisting in human trafficking his ex-wife and children.
Troopers say, during the investigation, it was learned that there was no basis for the allegations.
The investigation also determined that he had engaged in stalking and harassment of his ex-wife over the past three years.
Findings from the investigation were turned over to the Jefferson County, Indiana Prosecutor’s Office which resulted in Martinez being charged with two felony counts of Stalking and misdemeanor counts of False Informing and Harassment.
A warrant for Abel Martinez was issued in March 2025, but his whereabouts were unknown until last week when he was arrested in Jefferson County, Texas.
He will soon face extradition back to Jefferson County, Indiana where he will face an initial appearance in court.
