Jean Agnes Ziegler, 83

Jean Agnes Ziegler, 83, passed away on April 7th, 2025, at the HCA Florida Largo Hospital, in Largo, Florida. Jean was born on April 22nd, 1941, in Batesville, Indiana, the 2nd of 6 children born to the late Leonard Ziegler and Mary Koehne Ziegler.

Jean grew up attending the Oldenburg Holy Family School & Batesville High School. She earned her Masters in Education at Ball State University and began a career as an elementary teacher in Warren Township in Marion County, Indiana, working for 35 years until retirement in 1997. After retirement, Jean enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, and avidly reading.

Jean will be remembered for baking cookies, her wonderful buckeyes in particular, and her homemade greeting cards sent to friends & family. She was an avid card player, enjoyed cross stitching and loved all sports. She was generous, passionate, knowledgeable, friendly, and loving. She was a member of the Gamma Theta Society and St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, donating often to missionaries. Attending “Pop Series” at Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra were some of her most important events in life.

Jean is survived by her siblings Dolores Grieshop, Robert Ziegler (Diane), Marilyn Green, Jerome Ziegler (Karen) & Leonard Ziegler (Jo), and many friends all over the country.

A service for Jean will be held at the Holy Family Church on June 7th, 2025 (3027 Pearl Street, Oldenburg, Indiana, 47306). There will be an 11:00AM Mass, followed by a service & a graveside at the cemetery. Lunch to be provided after in the school cafeteria.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
