Jay Alan Buell

Jay Alan Buell, age 53, of Holton passed away surrounded by his family Sunday November 12, 2017. He was born on December 4, 1963 the son of the late Frederick Buell and Peggy Lou (Bob) Furst in Greensburg.

Jay began attending grade school at Greensburg, but life seen him move to the Holton area and he began to attend to South Ripley High School, graduating in the class of 1982.  While attending high school he enjoyed track and field events.  Jay began working early in the local slaughter house cutting and processing meat, this lead to him spending several years working for Versailles Super Valu.   The next venture in life had him in the carpenter union, where he spent over 15 years.

Family was a very important part of his life, together with them he built his home on Derrick Street in Holton and lived out his life.  He had a passion for the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish.  Jay was a member of the Holton Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Holton United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father and son Derrick.  Jay is survived by son Anthony (Jessica Powers) of Holton, parents Bob and Peggy Lou Furst of Holton, sister Susan (Michael) Driver of North Vernon, Rebecca Hon of Holton, and Lori Eder, brother Doug (Donna) Furst of North Vernon, Great Grandmother Ruth Elouise Remmler of Butlerville, along with several niece and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday November 16, 2017 from 9:00-11:00 am., with Funeral Services being held also on Thursday at 11:00 am., all being held at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood.  Burial will follow at the Methodist Cemetery in Holton.  Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to the family in care of the funeral home.
