January 4 boys high school basketball recaps

The following are area high school boys basketball recaps from Tuesday, January 4.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Shawe lost in Madison to Borden 58-26. 

The visiting Braves shut out the hosts 12-0 in the second quarter.

Phillip Kahn of the Toppers had a game-high 17 points.  Mason Jones’ 12 points were best for Borden.

And Southwestern fell in Hanover to Providence 49-48.

The Rebels rallied from a 45-38 fourth quarter deficit but came up a point short.

Southwestern got 15 points and six rebounds from Zach Cole plus 10 points from Payton Gwin. Parker Davis had a team-best eight rebounds and booked seven points.

The Pioneer attack was led by Quentin Hesse and Casey Kaelin who scored 11 each.  Tyler Simmons followed with nine.

While the turnover total was nearly the same, Providence had better success converting the miscues into points 16-8.
