Janis Collins, of Brookville, was born on July 29, 1949 in Putnam County, Indiana, the daughter of Loren and Mildred Hanners Haltom. She retired from Gecom after many years of employment. Janis enjoyed spending time with her family and liked to craft and travel. On Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the age of 67, she passed away at her residence.
Those surviving who will cherish Janis’ memory include her children, Rosalind (Darrin) Lunsford, John (Julia) Collins, Darrel (Lisa) Collins, all of Brookville, and Cara (Bill Brooks) Collins of Durham, NC; 10 grandchildren, Lauren Collins, Cleta Faye Collins, Ben Stone, Felicia Collins, Darrin Justin Lunsford, Chelsey Collins, Madison Collins, Darrell Collins, Jr., Dustin Collins, and Clara Collins; 4 great grandchildren, Autumn and Austin Gray, Lillie Dyer, and Brynleigh Stone; sisters, Joyce Pasley and Sharon Dearth, both of Cincinnati, and brother, Darrell Haltom of Indianapolis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Greg Haltom.
In keeping with Janis’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Brookville Volunteer Fire Department.
